Time for a new computer the existing is haveing trouble with large raw files we use. 3d graphics not essential but pin sharp graphics are, can any one help with a suitable spec. the machine does software and processing, storage is external and will burn dvds for back up i am glad of any help you can give.

Do you have a budget here or anything other than a system box only? Something quad core with 4gb of Ram sounds like it would fit the requirements but I don't know if it fits into your budget at all.

I asked the same question a few days ago. Check out:

EDIT: Updated added Home Premium and changed memory to lower voltage.

We have a suitable monitor ,printer, tablet etc so its just the box max £1000 happy to spend less just used for photography net and e mail.

No need to even spend half that money on a photoshop PC:

There is not that big a difference. Its based on the build you kindly helped me with. I have made a few minor changes:

I have gone with the IP35 over the IP35-e because I need more sata connections 6 as opposed to 4. The reason being to add more back up options. The IP35 also allows for Raid which the -e does not.

Your build does not include a OS or a CPU Cooler.

I have added an extra 1TB drive for storage/backup.

I don't think he was criticising your specification, I read it as a comment on the original budget of £1,000.

Either specification looks good (remarkably similar anyway) although I'd suggest changing the OCZ for G.Skill or Corsair PC6400, mainly because they will boot at 1.8v which is what the Abit defaults to (unless it has been changed recently). You can get around it but it is a bit more hassle.

Thanks for pointing that out could you please link to the correct memory I am a bit of a noob and don't want to get the wrong one!

Is this the right one?

One of the Adobe developers is quoted as saying that most of Photoshop is limited by memory bandwidth these days so it makes sense to get the highest bandwidth memory you can afford.
