Photoshop CS2 Problem…

Hey guys,

I’ve been doing a lot of photo editing of late, since getting my new camera and a big problem has cropped up in Photoshop…

Basically, I’m in the habit of finishing my pictures and then saving them to .jpeg/.gif via Photoshop’s “Save For Web” feature in the File menu.

But now, when I go to click ‘Save’ the program stops responding and I have to end it through task manager

I was using this feature on Wednesday and now I just tried to use it again this happens :(

So far I’ve tried to Repair the program and I’ve uninstalled/re-installed, re-applied updates etc, but still no joy. Also tried defragging the C:\ drive and error-checking but the problem remains…

Any ideas?

Thanks,

SW.

hold ctrl + shift + alt when opening photoshop, i think thats the right combination..

it'll ask you if you want to reset photoshop settings to defaults :)

worth a shot!

-edit, this season of extras has been class ;)

i had a weird photoshop problem recently where the colours were slightly brown all the time

couldn't work it out, so ended up formatting!

tried what you have so far too

Shot in the dark but its not looking for a mapped drive or USB pen attached is it?

What happens if you just wait and let it time out itself?

is it installed to C:

as previously I found when I did not install photoshop to C: if I wanted to open imageready from within it , it never opened and I got an error...

Going to try this now, but I'm pretty sure it just stops responding though - it used to come up with the Save box almost instantly.

Yep :)

Thanks for the ideas guys ;)

Probably going to have to resort to another format though... That'll take me up to about 10 in the last two months! Had a bit of an issue with Media Player recently too :p

what anti virus/ firewall software u using?

do u scan often?

do u partition drives? so keep c: for windows only and the then the rest lets say d: for progs and e: for games etc

perhaps theres too much conflict there...

After finishing your artwork in Photoshop have you tried?

"File, Save" this will save as a psd

then "File Save As" and choose jpg (it will have to be a copy)

then close your psd, open your jpg and then try "Save for Web"

obviously not the solution but you might be able to work around the problem.

It worked :D

I was in the shower at the time so I didn't keep track of how long it took, but I just left it and when I got back the Save box was there! A couple of restarts later and it works instantly again?

Strange

Problem solved, but fyi:

NOD32 & Sygate.

Scheduled for once a week, on Friday ;)

All my drives have single partitions.

Cheers,

I tried all manor of fix suggestions and save combinations, in the end I just let it time out and the Save box appeared! Now it's back to instant again ;)
