photoshop elements 5.0 problem

I was editing an image wanting to create a sig, so using PE 5.0 I edited the size as it was slightly larger than the maximum allowed by overclockers.

The original image was something like 8kb but when I make it smaller and save the quality as the lowest possible in PE 5.0, the image is now something silly like 26kb.

Anyway around this?

Go Save for Web, choose jpeg, and lower the quality till the value in the bottom left is around 18-19kb

That should compress the size hopefully

Always use save for web if you're planning to upload

Sometimes I export stuff to Imageready and save it as a gif, that helps some more in my little experience.
