Photoshop from CPU only

I'm after a laptop which will pretty much just be used for image editing.
I'll need 32GB RAM at least, but I was wondering if photoshop will run well just from the on board graphics on the CPU, or will I need a GFX card?

No, you don’t NEED a dedicated GPU and it’ll run photoshop on integrated graphics. Where it might slow down is larger images and brushes where the refresh rate of the brush etc might lower compared to a graphics card equipped computer.

That being said why spec a 32gb requirement ? That sort of spec may likely come with a dgpu in the laptop anyway. Or may be worth dropping the ram if it could allow you to get a full gpu.

my personal experience was that a discrete gpu did make a difference to editing smoothness. Both managed overall, but a stronger gpu made for smoother faster editing and adjustments.

It probably depends what you are doing. Small touch up a few times a week. Heavy work with tens of layers all day?

Memory capacity and storage capacity/speed makes a big difference too.
