Hi folks.

Need a wee favour, can some kind person try the following on this image?:-

baafsrq1.jpg

First of all, need the background to be black.

I've tried doing it myself but I still get a faint white outline around the badge itself upon the black background as shown below:-

Also, need another one where the background is transparent.

Lastly, need both resized to approx 150 width/72 height.

Again, attempted to resize them but when I do it, it resizes and distorts the image quite badly. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. :)

Thats perfect m8!!!

Many thanks, seriously appreciate that help!!!. :D

Can I just ask you, how do you actually go about doing that, if it wont take too long to explain?.

Hehe I'm not skilled at all. I'm sure someone will explain an easier way to do it.

But I just used the Magic Wand, to select the image, made the background black, then used the brush tool to cover up the outline.
And for the transparent one, same thing, but I copied the image into a new file that had a transparent background.

Cheers.

Yeah, I faffed around for a while in PS CS3 trying to get it right but to no avail.

Many thanks again, it's actually for a "work in progress" charity events website that I'm working on for the Edinburgh Airport Fire Service lads:-

I am guessing you were using the magic wand to select the white background. I would say you need to increase the tolerance of the selection tool a bit which will allow it to select some of the slightly darker off-white.
Alternatively as mr.sly did, you can use paintbrush to blacken the whitish bits left over.
Resize just depends on the resizing method (bicubic, bilenear, nearest neighbour etc).
