Hi all,

Can some describe how i would go about doing the following. I have a picture of a car in front of nice background :) How do i grey out just the background, leaving the car in colour. I prefer if someone could point me in the right direction or describe how do achieve this effect (don't even know what the effect is called tbh) as i'll remember how to do it in the future :)

The effect of removing colour is the desaturate tool. First you need to select just the background, easiest way to do this is to use magnetic lasoo, then inverse the selection and desaturate it.

i should add, once you have the car to a new layer, you can make a copy of the original layer just under the car and play with it as much as you wish.. it won't mess with the car and it won't mess with the original image should you wish to try something else
