Photoshop help

Im trying to pull a couple of people out of an image using photoshop using the magnetic tool but i cant seem to get it just right, seems to be too sharp around the edges.

How do i get around this?

ive altered the frequency upwards to get it a little more accurate, still no joy.

Which is too sharp? The edge it creates eventually or the flow of the line around the person?

You need feather for the first, and pen tool for the second

Yeah ive sort of figured out a few things after a bit of research, using the lasso tool then using "refine edge" and messing with that until it looks relatively decent.

If they're small people, spot healing brush and content aware (google if you're unsure). Found out about this the other day, and it's incredible!
