I was wondering if someone might be able to help me - I need some photoshop help. I thought I might get a more sensible response in here than GD :p

Basically, I'm looking to use this image, make the chain gold (a darkish gold ideally) and use this image for the background instead of the plain white. It's for a uni project and I'm trying to get it to blend in with the other images. I've downloaded photoshop and spent the last hour having a go, but my efforts are hilariously bad so I've given up! If anyone could help me out that would be brilliant.

Thanks :D

Fair bit of masking to do there, as the background is almost the same colour as the current necklace colour.
Not a 5 min job if you want it looking good.

It doesn't have to look amazing as it isn't a photography related assignment and it'll be printed in a fairly small size, I just need a bit of an improvement on my terrible efforts.

Here's what I managed - took me ages to find out how to make the other image a background, and I can't work out how to change the colour of the chain at all. With the colour changed and a little blurring around the edges I reckon it'd look OK, it's just been years since I used photoshop so I haven't got a clue.

Thanks :D There's no need to change the colour of the surround of the jewel, simply the chain is enough. Really appreciate your help so far!

Selection is absolutely fine, but the surround of the jewel can stay standard, it's just the chain that I need gold. Thanks again!

That's brilliant, thanks! Don't worry about doing any more to it, that'll be absolutely fine for my purposes. Very much appreciated, can't thank you enough :)
