So my friend has finally decided to upgrade his ooooooold dual core rig. He is an amateur photographer but a semi pro at photoshop, his rig is just too dyer for words but finally he has had the ok from his mrs to spend some money

He is on a tight budget (£500 - £550) and after talking to some of you we have come up with this -

Total : £515.09 (includes shipping : FREE).

I know you might say loose the GPU, use the on board and put the extra cash towards an IPS monitor but what you have to bare in mind in that he does not sell his pictures.
He also has one of these monitors already but wants a second, also as you maybe aware the llano CPUs offer hybrid crossfire and as photoshop does benefit from graphic acceleration we chose to add a cheep 6450 GPU!

What we will be doing this weekend is running some tests on his old rig -
1) windows start up (fully ready) and shut down.
2) photoshop start up.
3) bridge start up.
4) 35 image photo merge (panoramic).

His old rig is an old intel dual core (cant remember which) 2GHz, 4GB ram, 320GB HDD.

Im hoping from the above to introduce him to current tech and show him what he has been missing out on ;)

So last night we ordered everything last night, he is super happy with the rig and cant wait to get going :)

We had a look at what his old rig consisted of which is an E2200 cpu 2.5GHz and 4GB of DDR2 699MHZ ram.

It took nearlly two mins to start up and be fully operational which isn't all that bad but where it stumbled was starting photoshop up....... nearly as long as the pc took to start up

I going on a marathon walk today so im gonna take a massive panorama and really put it to the test ;)

So hopefully we will see the gear by Wednesday / Thursday so i will bring you lots of shiny pictures :)
