Does anyone know an easy way to arrange the layout guides in photoshop accuratly without working out the dimentions on paper then manually typing them in one by one. Say i wanted to divide a page into 30 equal horizontal sections, is there a quicker way? A plugin maybe?

Edit > Preferences > Guides, Grid, Slices And Count > Gridline every [ X ] [ percent]. Where X = (100 / [number of divisions] )

So 30 equal divisions would be 100/30 = Gridline every 3.333 percent.

Then you could either Snap To Grid, or manually drag guides into the desired places on the grid.

It's about as near as you're going to get, and of course some divisions are more pixel-perfect than others due to rounding.

Don't know of any plugins, but then again I've only ever used one in my entire professional Photoshop career :D

Is there a way to include borders/gutters on a grid in photoshop does anyone know? Or wwill I have to be in In Design?

If you're getting to the stage of thinking about gutters, borders, margins etc., then yes: you're talking InDesign [or Illustrator]. And if your work involves gutters, then chances are it's also the sort of work that requires really good type handling - certainly of a level beyond that which Photoshop can offer.

As flexible as Photoshop has become over the years, it's still only a raster image manipulation tool at heart.

hmm ok...
i good with photoshop you see and have some basic knowledge of illustrater and have never used indesign. I'm not sure how much time i can dedicate to learning the programs while I'm supposed to be producing work for my project lol. What are the differences for text manipulation in InDesign that ps doesn't have then?

Just tried to set up the grid I made on ps in InDesign and can't work it out.

Its an A3 square double page booklet (297x297mm 300dpi). There's a 15mm margin around the edge of the page and the main body has a 58x58 grid.

I set the margins up in InDesign but i can't get the grid to start at the edge of the margin.
