Hi all, after a bit of advice please...

I'm currently running an Abit NF7, 2500XP, 6800 and 1.5gb crappy DDR1 ram. Previously this was used mainly for gaming, but I've recently started doing a lot of photography and from September will be doing a photography masters so I'm going to be doing a lot of processing in Photoshop, and my current rig is pretty slow.

I'm also seriously broke, so I was thinking about buying the Asrock 4CoreDual motherboard, sticking a 4300 in it and using my old ram and graphics. However, due to using 3 512mb sticks and the board only having 2 DDR1 slots I'd have to drop down to 1GB total ram - how much is this going to be an issue with Photoshop?

Would it be worth going for a 2GB DDR2 kit off the bat? Whats the cheapest option that will allow me to overclock the C2D as far as the board will allow?

Cheers,
Tom
