phpBB beta 5 released

i wouldn't usually bother posting about beta releases, but the interesting thing about this release is that they have finally included an update script for phpBB2 installations, so you can now upgrade your existing board to the new version.

Only joking, I'll have a look at it as the reason I swithced from phpbb was mainly the back end side of things.

Its still beta. Upgrading a live forum from 2.0 to 3.0 beta5 isnt a great idea unless you know what your doing.

Still good news though can copy the forum and see what its like. RC1 should only be a month away.

And as for bloat? Whats bloaty about it?

well yes, but running an online community isn't a great idea unless you know what you're doing either...

and using the update script a trained monkey could do it. as long as you make a database back-up of your board before you begin then it should be safe to try the upgrade.
