PHPBB New User

First time using this.

Am I missing something? How do I create new users?

The users sign up on their own. Via the index.php. If you want to add them yourself you could by manually putting them in the db. I think PHPBB only uses MD5 to encode.

Oh, that's a bummer. Wanted to set up users manually. Will have a read up on how to do that.

I'm amazed you can't add users via the ACP by default though.

It's quite rare for people to add users themselves. It's not rocket science to sign up yourself. Their Support Toolkit has an option to make new users though. Also if you have a 'club' or something like that with a closed membership you can use the antispam countermeasures Q&A and set up a question telling them to enter the code they've been sent. That way you can make an entry code for the registration page that only the people you email will know and therefore only they can register.

You could also take away all guest/registered permissions away and set users to a 'verified' user-group once registered, if it is a private club type thing.
