Hello guys,
I run the website - www.epcclan.co.uk

I currently use the out of the box install of phpBB but i have been asked if i can install Tapatalk so that my guys can get onto the forum via their mobiles or iPad's etc.

I have noted that i am using the prehistoric phpBB 2.0.23 board and i would like to upgrade to the latest version.

Is this possible?
What are the implications?
What are the steps to take?
What could potentially go wrong?

Many Thanks.

You're not using phpBB2. You're using phpBB-Nuke which is a fork with 2x running under it.

If you look in the phpBB support site there's a converters forum.
You'll have to convert it to proper phpBB2 first and then phpBB3.

As with anything like this you should back up the files and the database before you start just in case it goes wrong. The only likely pitfalls are that you overwrite existing files. Keep it all separate. You can always rename folders afterwards so the links/bookmarks all still work.

The conversion to 3x doesn't touch the old database though so there's no risk involved.

When you get as far as doing the conversion to 3x all you do is install phpBB3, then click the option to convert and it'll ask you for the 2x database info. That's all in the config.php file.

Looking at the number of users and posts it'll take less than 15 minutes to convert.
