hi there,
I really need to know im doing this right, never installed a card b4 and I need to make sure im doing it right.
as far as I know I'm supposed to just slot it into a spare pci slot and attach the power cable. thing is the card is damn heavy, it feels like the weight of it might damage either the card or the motherboard. it says in the manual about using a screwing bracket to support it, but no such item was included with the card.
also with the positioning of my m/b the back side of the card (with the circuitry) will be facing up, which looks incorrect to me
please help!
 
When installing it into your case you will find there wholes or a some sort of clasping mechanism in the back of your case that when the card is installed distrabutes the weight of the card between the mobo and the case so its affectivly supported in two areas. (the screwing bracket refers to where it attach's to the case)

The fans should be on the down side so you see the pcb you can only put it in one way lol
 
Just go slow and youll be fine we all have to start somewhere be warned today its a graphics card next time youll be building your own computer lol
 
this is the last part of my first build!
still can't figure out the clasping mechanism on the back of the case.
 
Looks like a common thumb screw holder you undo the screw take out the small plate put in your card and then replace the screw

(im only looking at pics here ) if it isnt then the chances are its a case where you have to break out one of the small vented pieces by wiggling it ( if so make sure you are taking out the right ones to corrispond with your pci -e slot) i do see screw wholes on the side of your pci-e slots on the case , so its just a case of figuring out how to get out the place holder e.g unscrew or wiggleing then screwing your card in.

There are no stupid questions....just stupid people who won't ask questions ;)

I have a Z9 chassis too. Nice starters/builders case on a budget :) You want the GPU in the top PCI-E slot on the mobo. Be careful when popping out the blanking plates on the case as if you do the wrong one you can't put it back.

Don't worry about the support. The GPU may look like it sags slightly at the end where you connect the power cables but that's normal. Some cases have a support or you can buy one but it's not really necessary.

Also as it's your first build please make sure you wired up the power button for the case. It's says on the first page of the manual to do so but people still seem to overlook it and wonder why the rig won't power up ;)

Man that caught me out, and btw wtf are you doing with a manual :D

Sitting there for 5-10m shouting WHY WONT YOU ******* TURN ON, I then saw a power button on my motherboard and pushed it came on and I thought to myself "No way I have to do that every time".

Not proud to admit it took me longer than it should have to just pop the front cover off lol
 
thank you, i took the plunge and all seems good :)
the card does indeed seem to sag a bit and im only 75% sure its supported properly at the back of the case. in any case the weight does not seem nearly as much a problem now its in. it seems like it would be obvious whether its in correctly or not but i will add pics to to my project log tommorow (drunk now and can't understand flickr) to show what I mean. if im still unsure i will just pay £45 to get the whole rig checked over ina few weeks, ive invested a lot in it and thats fine to pay that much more to make sure all is good.
for the first time I got to jack all the settings up as far as they go! sliding those bars up was a very big treat for me :D
