I've inherited a lot of of photographs from my grandad in the last few days and I'm a little bit stuck as how to store them in a more practical way.

There must literally be thousands of printed photographs from over about a 60 year period. Presently they're a mixture of loose in albums and lots in their original pack from the developer. There is also a large number of photo discs which I think will be best transferred to some of the large capacity CD wallets.

He had obviously catalogued a lot of them and there is an index so there is some order to them but they're stored in boxes and the amount of space needed is pretty daunting. I'd say there is a double bookcase full.

Does anyone here use any storage systems for storing their images. I know that now people rarely print photographs and I had thought about scanning them all but that seems like it would be a very time consuming job.

Knowing my grandad and how fastidious he was there will be negatives for the photographs he had developed. For a lot thought there isn't any negatives.
