Physx card with AMD main GPU

I thought some time back that Nvidia had allowed people to simply run a physx card with AMD card without any faffing on.

Just doing some googling, and it sounds like there may still be faffing to get it working, rather than simply installing drivers.

Which is the case?

1) No trouble, just install card and drivers.

2) Install card, install drivers, and install some kind of hack to make it work?

Its kind of number 1 but with a condition- you must install an old NVIDIA driver which has ATI support still available, as its disabled in later drivers. I believe 257.15 can be used with AMD.

Sigh, thought Nvidia had given up on restricting people...

Silly buggers. All they achieve is lost sale. Won't swap to Nvidia just for it, but would happily have bought one of their cards to use for it, had they made it easy.

I've got an old GTX260 in my PC along with my 6850. I've only got it in there because I picked it up for nothing, and I wanted to give it a try for Metro 2033, Mafia II and Batman: Arkham Asylum (and the upcoming Batman: Arkham City)

It's nice to have, but I certainly wouldn't have bothered if I'd had to pay out for the additional card - I'd have spent that money on a better graphics card in the first place!

I had it setup before on my main rig, after a re-install never bothered getting it working again.
