if you want the same effect as that physx card save yourself 100 quid and just downclock both the cpu and the gfx card. and bham!!! instant replica of physx card performance and you saved the cash.

im not really upto date with the whole overclocking or downclocking area in fact i have no idea on that side :(

trying to find out about the whole overclocking area

you might have to explain a lil more

sorry

*waits for pottesy to arrive* :p

ATM though physx cards are useless, not much game support (bar ghost recon, which adds naff particle effects, and inferno, which is a fairly average game anyways). But there's support for it in the UT3 engine, which may make it worth it in the future. But even if this card cost £50 atm, it still wouldn't be worth it with the support it has.

So, basically, no, it's not worth the £120~ atm. Maybe in the future, but definatly not now :)

physx cards are a good idea that's poorly implemented. an idea that certain people would never let take off, with such BS as "just downclock both the cpu and the gfx card. and bham!!! instant replica of physx card performance and you saved the cash."

tbh, grapics cards as physics procs will prob serve better than physx.

Meh, save the money, just like DDR3 is not worth it atm.

regardless of whether the physx card is any good or not - there is absolutely no reason to own one at this moment in time... (unless your an obsessive cell factor player)

ignore the people above saying its rubbish, down clock your computer, etc. they have an irrational and somewhat unfounded bias against certain aspects of technology, i.e. I bet most of them hate SLI.

Theres tons of thread on this subject and search is currently re-enabled...

My advice, only buy one if you play the games that will use it. Which at the moment, not many games do. But I think the main website says what supports the card and if you see some that you have or want to play, then yes buy one. The drivers which are out now are quite good for the card, the early revisions did have some problems with poor performance.

Cheers.

In what way are they rubbish?

Well they are supposed to give you the same if not better frame rates whilst giving you loads of extra effects in game, in reality you get worse frame rates for some crappy extra effects and there is hardly any support for it. Unreal tournament 3 is its main hope but i bet it will be just like GRAW, lower FPS for a few extra sparks . UT3 has also been put back for the PC, the360 and PS3 will have it first, another nail in the coffin for physx.

lol high end system with 80GB? Wasting money on rubbish like sound proofing and cathodes. Buy a couple of 500GB's. Put that into larger HD.

Don't buy Vista, gaming performance is worse than XP. And get the Extreme Music instead of the Gamer.

Instead of buying a Aegia card, put the £100 into higher end graphics card, or just keep it in your pocket.
