Physx SLI upgrade question

Hi forum,

I currently have a Core i7 920 cpu and a 9800GTX GPU and am feeling the need for some more graphics horsepower.

I was thinking of trying a GTX470 and using the 9800GTX as a dedicated physx GPU. Has anyone had any experience of this kind of setup?

Or would I just be better off buying another 9800GTX and going for the usual SLI?

Cheers,

Toby.

Firstly, I'd say it's not worth upgrading for PhysX, I'd also suggest holding off for a bit, there's not point buying a new GPU now (especially not a GTX480 considering the price) when there are new cards being announced very soon. You could always wait for the newer cards, you could if you really wanted PhysX, still use your 9800GTX for PhysX.

Get a single GTX470 - unless you play Mafia 2 a lot theres not much need for a dedicated physics card right now - 9800GTX SLI won't hold a candle to a 470 @ ~800MHz.

Hmm not sure I can face forking out near £400 for a GTX480 even if I do sell the old one.

New cards being announced soon you say? Might be worth waiting then and maybe I'll get another 9800GTX to tide me over until then.

This month apparently.
