Piano/Synthesizer software?

I just want to practice my keyboard playing using a midi keyboard, so just need a simple (free) program to allow me to play a piano (or synth) via my midi keyboard.

Have the keyboard, just can't find a good program to allow me to play a piano via the midi controller

Have you tried the maker of your keyboard?
they norm have software and drivers.

I have the drivers... But not the other software it came with, if indeed it did...

Go and find a some free VST software and then download Savihost.

You put the savihost.exe in the same directory as the VST dll but rename it to the same name
eg if the dll is called piano.dll you now name the savihost.exe to piano.exe

Run the exe, go to the options and set it up to your sound devices and off you go.
