hey guys, got a load of stuff coming to get the watercooling done in the next few days but I'm not sure how the graphics card block is gonna be linked in right now. It's a EK-FC7970/R9 280X - Acetal + Nickel, does anyone have any pics of these in a loop so I can get some ideas?

Thanks guys! :)

also, this graphics block says its for 7970/7950 reference design on the EK website, but my card, which they say in their compatibility thing is reference design (Asus HD7950-DC2T-3GD5), is not listed, think will this fit correctly? dont see why it shouldn't!

The 1st Editions of the 7950 Top had a reference pcb but later did not - You might find that if yours is not based on the reference pcb then the full block will not fit.

One way is to take off the existing cooler and then compare to the picture that , I think, EK provide of a reference pcb - You can at least clean up and apply better thermal paste :)

Although bang goes the warranty :(

yea, ive got the original one and not the V2 i believe, at least it doesnt say V2 on the sticker with the name on, so I hope it will be fine......

having an issue that i dont have a small enough screwdriver to get the cooler off at the minute!

looking for pics though as it doesnt have a bit that sticks out infront of the card like a lot of the blocks ive seen, in and output on the bottom of the card so i dunno what ill do for the tubing

Strange - I had a look at EK's configurator and it does look as though the card is the 1st Edition with reference pcb BUT the block you have is not listed as useable either in the main list of 7950 blocks or in the list of compatible cards for the block.:(

Like you I would think it would fit , if it's supposed to fit a reference pcb but....

Went with EK to begin with to cool my Asus 7950 Top but was not too impressed . Went for a Aqua Computer block and very solid - am now running a second (gigabyte) card with same block.:)

cool, well i'll have a look at it when it arrives, if it isnt gonna fit i'll send it back because it says 7970 -7950 in the description. I hope it fits!

So I just got this, first thought, open this up and make sure it fits on the graphics card.

so, it doesnt fit on the graphics card. not sure what to do now, says ind the description that it fits reference design HD7970 and -7950, EK says my board has a reference design 7950 on the Asus D7950-DC2T-3GD5, not quite sure what to do now! :(

If it does not fit and you can get a refund - send it back !

7950 blocks are getting a bit difficult to source - ocuk do not appear to have any .

Given rules I cannot direct you but if you were to enable your trust...

BTW - double check your model no. - using the ek configurator.

ive already contacted them and will be sending it back so thats ok.

bit gutted about it but nevermind! I checked the EK configurator and it doesnt seem to have this block on it, anywhere on the website, assumed it wasnt on anymore for some reason, says its a reference design board though which is why when the description said it fit that i thought it would be ok.
