Pic: Your desk...RIGHT NOW

Having the upstairs redecorated so had to move the desk downstairs, quite cosy though!

Moved recently as mentioned, so all my office furniture is in my new downstairs office and looking a little sad. I plan to get a bigger desk soon (180x80) and add some stuff to the walls.

The cables are bad, but until I start sorting the office there's no point trying to hide them.

Planning to upgrade the desk soon. I think I want an oak top.

Not sure if I should go white or black base.

Another option is this one

but it the tone of the wood might be a little too warm.

A sad day this week, for the first time in about 25 years I no longer have a dedicated desk space, and am essentially a working nomad in my own home - dotting between the kitchen table and my partners desk downstairs whilst she’s on maternity. I no longer have what I would class as a private space in the home, feels like a limb has been lost.

Until we get it figured out longer term, I’ve had to give up the office to turn it into a bedroom for my youngest…. feels like enough justification…. I guess :-p

I did the same long time ago and ended up on desk stuck in a corner. It space doesn't get better as they get older. In hindsight I should have build an office/workshop outside to have a dedicated space. Always thought I'd move and didn't.

We’re 6/7 months on and still no long term solution is in place :-(

I've been working on improving my study over the last few weeks to make it feel a bit more homely. Still lots to do i.e. painting a wall, wraping the second hand desks I used, adding some secondary lighting and a blind. But I'm really happy with the way it's coming together.

Aim was to make it into a useable space for me and my lad. I now have a dedicated space for me during the day (working from home), which is also the Xbox corner for the kids to use. Then we have a tinkering corner for the N64 and Raspberry PI development type stuff. The two microservers acting as NAS devices will be moved at some point I suspect. Desks made out of reworked Ikea Galants using their steel frame tied into the walls on supports to create a floating desk all around with no legs. The Alex drawers then add additional support to it as the steel frame sits on those with a couple of packers underneath.

We recently had Ikea open its first store in NZ, and it coincided with us buying our home in Auckland, the plan was always to use one of the bedrooms as a shared office space for my partner and I, finally got round to doing it, i'm super pleased with this! Couple more jobs I need to do yet though is add lighting under shelves and in Kallax units and tidy up cabling. Shelving is going to be used for all the lego we have to build yet! :)
