take the wheel off and look at the markings stamped into the back of the spokes.
If its BMW it should have BMW and the part number etc.. stamped into them.
I would get an auto personally as it easy to drive. Even with spirited driving i averaged around 32mpg over 8000 miles.

Combination of commuting around ten miles in traffic and long journeys into the mountains looking for decent roads to drive and admire scenery. Similar roads to wales in the uk so ups and downs and winding.
