Pick a car from this list

I do wish I had lower standards, 3 litre 325i's are outstanding value, you can already get 57 and 08 plate M Sport's for under £20k with 20k miles

If you are buying the 535d (my pick) it is likely to be a director/exec level commuter car and manual is not something the pople who buy this would care for I imagine.

Auto all the way for me.

I quite often do Plymouth to Southampton which is largely the same route (But obviously less overall duration so less dual carraigeway and less cruising to get the MPG up) and I get 31mpg from the 530i.

Even so, that's not terrible consumption for a 3 litre petrol pulling a heavy 5 series.

Well, I went for the BMW 330d M Sport Coupe (E92) .... so I dont think my vote counts. ;)

Crikey dude you've finally bought a car

And it's one of those

The reason why the 330d M Sport Coupe isn't on the list is because for it to be in the same league as the others you need a 58 plate onwards with the new N57 engine in it. The older ones have the same basic engine that goes all the way back to the 1999 530d. This pushes it into a different league price wise.

Fox, I've probably missed this on this thread (or a similar one, nasty habit of skim reading threads in the evenings...) but i've always pictured you eventually owning an E39 M5. Given up on that one I gather?

:( :( :(

I want an E39 M5. I always will. But finding a nice one is hard, they are all pretty old, and the few things beginning to irk me about the E39 are also present in the M5. It will always be my dream car.

I still have days where I think 'hmmm' but I suspect I will own one - but in years to come when I've got the cash and space for an extravagant 20 year old garage queen.

33something i I think.

But I do love the whole 5 Series thing :(

Get the local BMW dealer to do you a cut price rental for a few days in each.

Thats what i said at the start, but he's a sensible yoof, so its not cut and dried.

Opinionated yes

Sensible?

Come to think of it, his current 5 is probably worth 30K alone as it can be advertised as "Owned by Mr Fox of OCUK", gotta be worth summit that
