Could you guys in the know please pick me a processor for gaming :)

Been using the 960t with a big overclock 4.1mhz and was hoping it would last me until haswell but it isn't holding up to borderlands 2.

£220 is my budget for processor + motherboard

I don't ever want to sli as I plan on just getting new card every year.

I would want to keep my ram
4x 2gb kingston 1600mhz 888 24 @1.65v

Thanks for any help

CPU scaling with BL2:

http://www.techspot.com/review/577-borderlands-2-performance/page6.html

A Phenom II X4 at 4.1GHZ should be around Core i5 2500K level.

PhysX can be run on AMD cards too:

Problem with techspot's CPU scaling reviews they never show the minimum frame rate. Even IF the overclocked Phenom II X4 960T overclocked to 4.1GHz can somehow do 10fps higher than the Phenom II X4 980 at 3.7GHz and matchs stock 2500K, that doesn't mean it would match the minimum frame rate though ...

I know a few people running BL2,it will be fine as you seem to panicking. After all it is UE3 based. The CPU scores are with a GTX680 and if you look at the previous pages in the article, the graphics card can be more of a limitation if you have a lower end card.

Edit!!

The people I know are running Core i5 and Phenom II X4 CPUs and they are having no problems with the game. They are running the game on high settings and are a decent way though the game.

It would either be a graphics card problem or some other issue.

I don't understand the point you're making about the GTX680.
It's a CPU bottleneck, could probably exchange it with a 6970 and get the same results pretty much.

Thanks for help guys I am using the msi 660ti overclocked to 1300mhz 7200mhz and that is doing perfect :)

My cpu is definetely bottle necking pretty bad it's running above 90% most of the game and there is a couple of levels where it gets to 100%.

My cpu is being used more in this borderlands 2 than battlefield 3 online.

So should I just save for a bit longer and get the 3570k and pair it with the £85 gigabyte board?

I would hold off and upgrade to the 3570K with Gigybyte board.
