Hey all,

Currently looking to switch to a new ISP anytime now (currently have my MAC code), and just wondered what people on here thought of my 2 main choices.

I'm more interested in anyone who's using/used these ISPs?

1) ADSL
2) FalconNet

Both ISPs are offering the same package (30GB on, 300GB off, static IP, monthly contract) which is a bonus as there's no difference in price to worry about (£19.99).

I'm swaying towards ADSL24 as they offer a nice amount of webspace and have a easy-to-view control panel which can detail the status of any aspect of the line.

Migration is free for both of the ISPs concerned.

I was going to go with 02 when they launch but if they're going to offer the same services as Be then I can't*
(*too far for their packages.. I get 1.5Mbps on MAX currently see).

Any thoughts? :)

you can't go wrong with either one. they are both entanet resellers so the connection will be identical. the only difference will be the "extras" like webspace/email/control panel/etc. adsl24 are certainly getting more signups than most other resellers because of their flashy website. :p

Is that such a good thing though?

If the use the same "pipes" then the congestion on them will be the same on either service, yes?

Don't fancy signing up because of the flashy website, if it means it's going to be worse than one with a poor site.

eh?

as i said, the connection is identical. what speeds/congestion you get are nothing to with the reseller. you'll be on the entanet network. enta even do the billing for most resellers. so like i say, the only difference is the extra non-connection related things like webspace, email....

as for congestion, here's a copy/paste from an old post of mine.....

enta do manage their traffic during peak times. here's another post i made about it recently....

i don't know if you've researched them at all so i will mention the anti loss tool they use. the peak time runs from 8am to 10pm. now when 10pm rolls around, everyone goes a bit mad with their downloading and their centrals tend to get overloaded. but to counter this and avoid packet loss, they automate a speed reduction on everyone on the affected central to balance things out. you'll find most evenings for an hour or 2, that speeds will go down to 4-5mb, sometimes as low as 2mb but never lower than that. the speeds soon rise backup once things balance out. it's a good system and it works well. and the best thing of all is you can monitor it live on their website or even by downloading a little application someone has wrote. sometimes this will kick in on the afternoons/evenings on the weekend - all weekend is off peak so again it can get busy. what i like about this system is that even though speeds are reduced for a short while, you can always max out your connection with whatever protocol you like and are not punished for using p2p like most other isps.

even when they do cut speeds back, you'd never notice anyway. browsing normal websites is still snappy as ever. that's why i left bt, because their traffic management would make browsing a chore - waiting noticeable longer for pages to load. and like my quote says, this only happens for a few hours after 10pm. for at least 20-22 hours a day, you'll get the max your line supports.

i've been with ukfsn (another reseller) and it's been great for the 2 months so far. best bit is no contract - just 30 days notice if it all goes pear shaped. :D

there are also other enta resellers which are VIVACITI - TITANADSL - FREEOLA - XFIOS some of those offer large amounts of web space and mysql databases.

Aye, I was just clarifying. Cheers.

I've just migrated my MAC code to them, awaiting my debit emails.

I looked at UKFSN but I saw ADSL24 as the better deal (for me ) :)
