Picked up a LG OLED55B6V

Presume is no good these days with technology but thanks!

I do know someone on a forum said Fire TV box works fine with hdmi arc to optical. Netflix concerns me as there is no netflix box as a work around.

Still using a CRT tube...everyone is welcome to take the pee but I haven't until now been happy with flatscreen quality

Thanks! Are netflix and amazon outputting old skool DD 5.1? My Lexicon does not support any new hd formats.

Final question - what happens if I play a file via memory stick on the LG that is stereo only? The LG has no analogue outputs to go to my Lexicon

I wasn't aware of more than one Dolby Digital type, other than the standard and the Dolby Digital+ versions, unless you means the + is a newer HD format.

I've seen both DD and DD+ so I'd guess it depends on the source being played as to what audio track it has.

Unsure on playing files from memory stick. I tend to use Plex which works fine.

Thanks to both of you for the replies.

Yes DD+ is a no go. But I hear all DD+ and DTS HD audio tracks have the old DD and DTS encoded also.

Well better pull the trigger and buy an LG...am I right in saying the newer £3K model is only a bit better than the £1.5K B6? So I should buy asap before the B6 is out of stock?

Thanks Peahead. I'm hoping the 4K youtube fish tank video looks like a real fish tank on it too...helps me justify the cost as I wanted a fish tank to go below the LG

I'm sure you'll be happy, but please for the love of god, as soon as you get it switch to ISF Light Room picture mode. the default one is horridly vivid and and has trumotion enabled which means you get SOE (Soap Opera Effect) on motion.
Thanks there seems to be tonnes of setting up on this TV will be looking for example settings. Reminds me of all the dicking to get GTA 5 rigjt on my graphics card.

Just bit the bullet and bought a LG OLED 55 C6V ...yaaaaaay! Can't wait to inbox it ! What's tests would you recommend to test for banding , vignetting , 3d filter misalignment etc ..? Where's the best place to download 4k HDR samples etc ..cheers guys ;)

Anyone been effected by ABSL (dimming protection feature) while watching movies with long dark scenes?

Had it kick in a lot during Unforgiven UHD which has a lot of long night scenes in the saloon, a simple press of the remote wheel brings the picture back to full brightness, but hell its so off putting and something that should not have to been done while watching a movie.

Heard you can turn it off in the service menu.

Depends on you and what you want, 2017 models main advantages over the 2016 are:

- better handling of details in dark/black areas
- better handling of motion
- reduced ABL
- lower input lag across the board

The c/b 6 are fantastic for the price though but personally all the above matters to me so I'll be waiting for the b/c 7 series to drop to £1500 now, shouldn't be too long as they are already dropping in prices, not too surprising though given that LG have competition this year for OLED.
