picked up a red light xbox 360

Are all red light's repairable? I never owned an xbox, just thought I'd try and fix one up after seeing it done on the interwebs.

It hasn't got a power cable, but the seal was intact (I just broke it now), so it hasn't been attempted to fix and failed.

I have no power cable and can't say exactly how many bars are red etc.. Just wondering are there any red lights which are basically DEAD, and irrepairable. Or are all of the repairable (cheaply).

Buy a power cable and an X Clamp and it might work..

I fixed my own with the X clamp fix about 2 years ago and it's been fine ever since. Attempted to fix my brothers which failed again about a month later. The kit is cheap to buy so not much to lose.

i didn't use an xlamp, just cleaned off the old dried up TIM, applied some akasa stuff and put it back together, the OS didn't reset straight away which put me off because I thought I may have a bricked xbox on my hands. But after countless wireless + dvd drive presses It ended up resetting and got to the xbox menu.

So I may put some money into this and do the proper xclamp solution for a more permanent fix. Not sure why I bought this to be honest, I'm not spent £34 on an xbox and power supply, need a controller and have a barebones unit. But used barebones units go for £60 so I haven't really saved a whole lot of cash.
