I went to OcUK today and purchased the following.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit

Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

All for the bargain price of £505 :)

I'm really looking for help to get the best out of my system i.e. Bios settings, overclocking the CPU and Video card but nothing too extreme. Could anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

I point you towards the sticky thread regarding your selected motherboard :)

Similar spec to what i bought this week mate. cept ya cpu is better and u got a cooler

I bought

E4300
Asus P5N-E Sli
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit
POV GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

Paid 367inc vat and delivery for that lot. Cant wait till it all arrives (im a tightwad and used free delivery etc lol, thats how it was all cheap)

Thanks for the tip, reading through that thread now :)

I've just got windows xp installed and all drivers and updates but it keeps giving me a BSOD and shuts down on Internet Explorer 7

Everything else seems to work

I'd suggest some light overclocking, so you can familarise yourself with the settings in BIOS and feel comfortable with what you are doing and going to achieve - there is no better way than to have a look at the DS3 guide in the sticky. Its not hard to grasp, once you get started you will pick it up rather quick.

With that setup you have bought you should see some very interesting results, that hardware is very overclockable. Enjoy!!
