Picked up something new again.

The 6 Series has one of, if not the, best interiors on any mainstream car on the market. It is simply superb - every surface exudes quality, it's aesthetically pleasing and everything is covered in soft leather. It's stunning - you'd need to buy a Bentley to get something appreciably better.

Meanwhile the Mustang is about as nice inside as a Focus :p

I was talking about the M5 my mate owns, he does not have an M6.

The Mustang is a far nicer place to sit than any Focus I've driven.

I've never driven one, but can anyone else answer this question - is an M6 'special' enough to require another car as a run around?

I know it's an expensive car to purchase, and maintain, but of all the cars at that price point, isn't it one of the most accomplished at being used on a day to day basis?

Its value is going to drop like a stone regardless of miles put on it. Just seems a bit redundant to me to buy a second car - but hey, what do I know? :)

Everyone different (Mainly due to money income)

If I had a garage and parking for 2 cars I buy a cheap work car and keep my Focus ST in the garage for sunny days...

Trying to keep my car clean in this wet weather is impossible and annoying where I would not give a crap about a cheap 10 year old car
(Be Great for them car parks like supermarkets where you get door damage from people opening there doors against your car ;))

20mpg vs 65mpg?

Why didn't you get a Fiesta ST ?

If I remember right there not really that much difference in price between a fiesta Titanium X & fiesta ST

Good question, ST is a great little runaround :D

Didn't you recently buy a Polo GTI as your runabout? Would have thought that would be nicer than the Ford?

My Polo GTi is too much car for most :)

At 40k it's a lot of power for the money and in the right conditions supercar fast but they have such a bad traction problem when wet or bumpy. A superb GT but not Porsche fun in my book. Wanna race your Fiesta against my Polo :D

The M6 is a lovely car. How are the seats in the back and what's it like to park? It's quite long isn't it...?

Do bmw not do a 4wd M series car then (or xdrive as they call it)? I do like them but it sounds like they have big traction issues.

Only the X5M or whatever it is called, I would be surprised if the new G30 M5 isn't 4wd as the 540i model is only available with xDrive, I expect the 535d will be the same.

If you have ever driven an RS6 and then an M5 the first thing you notice is how little traction it has in comparison, it is the sharper handling car but on an average UK road the RS6 would be pulling away as it can put all it's power down almost all the time. I expect an xDrive M5 will be a very quick car.

The traction issue is so bad it is actually funny. :D

In the dry a bump causes all kinds of upset and murder, almost feels like its got a live axle in the rear, the reality is its just all the torque/power. Though I did notice my friends M5 has Pzero tyres on it from BMW, now I know how aweful they were on the Mustang. He is getting some MPSS fitted to hopefully improve it. Smooth dry road though it feels epic quick, like 600+ horsepower quick the it feels like a single turbo it comes on so hard.

I did not even look at the price of the ST but I think it would have cost a lot more, this was only 7k for a 2013 car with 39k miles, one owner.

It will get used day to day but there are times when I would rather take something small out. Also sometimes its hard to justify taking a 100 mile trip to have a coffee with a friend when I know its going to cost me the best part of £70. Its just nice to have a extra optio.

18mpg vs 40mpg?

I've got MPSS on my M5 and it hasn't helped. It can be quite unpredictable which certainly makes it 'exciting' to drive in the wet. The traction control can manage it of course but it will just pull all the power.

The M5/M6 are an awesome all round car. Supercar performance, saloon car practicality, great looks, great interior, great build quality. It's just not that special and it's quite a downgrade from a 911 in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong the interior is nice, I just expected more, again regarding M5, never sat in the new M6.

But yeah we refer to it as a missile, forget corners and bumpy roads, save it for straight lines and unleash hell.

But agreed a 911 will destroy an M5/M6 on a country road or in less than ideal conditions even though its over 100 horses down, just far more competent handling thing.

Yep this, I have never been in a car with such bad traction. Lets see what its like when its not wet in a few days.
