picking a gaming keyboard

Hi, Sorry for the thread steal but i have a similar question :p

I am looking for a new gaming keyboard for rig and was thinking either Razor or Logitech?

Budget is probably around £80.

For pretty much every type of game, ain't too bothered about fancy stuff.

My brother just bought a Logitech G110, which I've had a quick go on. It's a nice keyboard. It feels a little light, but they haven't done anything silly with the layout, it's fairly nice to type on, and the back lit keys are pretty, but they do feel a little odd to me after spending the past week or so getting used to a SteelSeries 7G.

I'm not entirely sure what colour switches the Razer uses (I refuse to buy Razer products) but the 7G definitely uses black switches. I even popped a few keys off to have a look at them.

I enjoy typing on the 7G (even though some people don't), and it's superb for games. After a few days of using the 7G I seem to do much better in Lead & Gold. On my old keyboard (an aging Microsoft Comfort Curve thing, £12 in Asda :D) I was getting 20-ish kills and 5 - 10 deaths on a good round, but since having the 7G I've had a few rounds of almost 50 kills and no more than 10 deaths or so, however this could all be coincidence... or luck :D

I'd recommend anyone at least try a mechanical keyboard if you have the money, and you can always DSR it if you don't like it. For a budget keyboard I've heard good things about the Saitek Cyborg V5.

Currently looking to get myself a new keyboard, been fixing some pc's and selling my old parts and now looking to pick up a new keyboard.

Currently narrowed it down to the following

Razer Blackwidow / BlackWidow Ultimate.
Steelseries 7g
Logitech G110
Sidewinder X4
Roccat Valo.

Really cant decide, any other recomendations? Kinda fancy a mechanical but there soo expensive

Sorry for the double post, but I thought I'd share my thoughts on this list.

Razer Blackwidow / BlackWidow Ultimate.

Every Razer product I've ever used has felt cheap and tacky. I always got the impression you were paying for the packaging. Never used the Black Widow though, so being a mechanical keyboard, it might be different.

Steelseries 7g

Got one of these myself (read previous post) and absolutely adore it.

Logitech G110

My brother has one. Again, read my previous post. In summary, it feels a bit light, but is nice to type on and the keys are pretty.

Sidewinder X4

Never used one of these, but I've heard mixed reviews. Some people like them, some don't. It has lower profile keys if I remember correctly. Somewhere between a laptop and standard size.

Roccat Valo.

I wouldn't buy one. I've read about lots of issues with various buttons not working, the anti-ghosting being awful, and the build quality not being up to scratch.

I go at Blackwidow Ultimate a few weeks ago (moving from a well used G15 v1) and I'm really happy with my choice. Its a very solid bit of kit (it feels like I could use it to hammer nails in) and the mechanical switches are simply lovely to use - especially if you do a lot of typing. The backlighting is also very good (one LED per key) if you tend to use the PC a lot during the evening/night.

That said, it is damn expensive and I had to think about it long and hard whether I wanted to spend this ammount of money on a keyboard. In the end I decided that I use the keyboard a heck of a lot and would want to keep it for ages - two things that mechanical switches are ideal for.

Do like the logitech G15's but really a keyboard will make no different in my opinion, all about a decent mouse that is all
