Hey

Just want to know if it's worth upgrading from a normal IPS full hd 24 inch screen 60 hz to a 144 hz screen with gsync…?

I have read a little about this, but damn so much different advices on this topic...

My rig is I7 - 4790 k (4.6ghz)
with a gtx 1070 ti …
I will be playing Battlefield 5 when it comes out.

I have found a Lenovo y27 Gsync monitor for 299 euro. And that is the absolute max i want to spend. Is it worth buying this.
Or maybe an ultrawide 2560 on 1440 p screen for less money..?

I really dont know what to do here.
Help!!!

You should notice a big difference between 60Hz and 144Hz. Mouse movements will be a lot smoother so playing FPS games with a Mouse will be a lot nicer.

Are you sure it is G-sync though and not FreeSync ? The Lenovo website suggests that the Y27 is Freesync (Unless they do a G-Sync with the same model number but I doubt it).

Yes , it exists :) freesync is 199 euro , gsync is 299. But is it worth paying a 100 more?
It is the cheapest gsync i can find , but i dont know if it is worth giving that much money.
Or should i just keep playing with my 6OHz screen?

As you have an Nvidia GPU then you are kind of stuck with G-Sync if you want that technology. Your other option would be to sell the GTX 1070 ti and buy a Vega 56/64 if you want to use the cheaper Freesync monitor but of course you would have to see what the price difference is overall.

As for 60Hz vs 144Hz you would see a big difference when playing 1st person shooters. As I said above Mouse movements will be a lot smoother. Also G-Sync or Freesync means virtually no screen tearing which is another big plus. If you went with an Nvidia gpu on a Freesync monitor you wouldn't be able to use 'Freesync' and vice versa. So you can still use the 144Hz refresh rate but you would be more susceptible to tearing.

Hmm , I get it ;). I'll keep my 1070 ti though :)

Still a big questionmark if I need something like that, would be great if I could try it out in some way .

Thanks for the reply Lee

IMO it's worth trying the increased refresh rate first, without adaptive sync. Try to understand which/if one is more beneficial. Doubling framerate might be enough of an improvement for you.

I've recently just bought this Samsung LC27JG50QQUXEN curved panel and it's absolutely fantastic. The colours are brilliant it is 1440p 144hz so it's crisp and you get the smoothness. 4ms panel which is perfectly acceptable for gaming. For £310 I consider it to be an absolute bargain. The only downside however is that it doesn't have freesync or G sync. But the for price it's well worth a punt.

Got the Lenovo G27 with gsync works like a charm , mouse is a lot smoother :) No more tearing, so pretty pleased with it!

I was on 60Hz for years. I love my G-sync 120Hz monitor, but I could absolutely go back if I had to.

299euro is super cheap for gsync, and quite low for a monitor budget in general, so if the Lenovo is half decent then you’re getting a good deal.

For me, gsync is not worth the upgrade on its own, though I know many would disagree. More screen real estate + gsync ‘feels’ like more of an upgrade to me.

I certainly wouldn’t upgrade to a free sync monitor if I had an Nvidia gpu, but I think I’m in the minority because tearing and ghosting never really bothered me that much anyway. Glow, dead pixels and blb were always the most annoying things for me.

Kind of like the feel of the 144 hz, haven't really switched back to 60 hz, my second screen is 60 hz. But i don't game on that one.
Think it was a descent buy for the price. Haven't really tried playing withthe G-sync off :p But I can feel the difference.
As I'm a player who snipes in BF 1 (and in every other game), a lot of 'dragsnipe' shots hit more frequently.

G-Sync is definitely worth it. But only if you are happy to spend the money. Personally with the prices now I wouldn't be. I paid £240 for my G-sync 1080p monitor and I thought that was fair.
that's 275 euro , so all in all , pretty similar cost. Cheapest i could find with 27 inch and curved :)

well yeah I know what you mean, I would not have paid full price for it , nor would I pay full price for a swift either , way too much, but again...I got my swift for half price also.

But even if you dont get a G-Sync Monitor, and just go for a high refresh rate one you will see how nice it is :)

Really good buy then, :p I Always look out for those pricedrops and stuff, but can never find one when needed :(
