Picking a Power Supply

It's nothing special but will do the job. The oem is HEC, it has 588w on the 12v rail and is only bronze rated. It's not where my money would go as you can get far superior gold rated units for just a little more.

EVGA Supernova GS 550w £64.99 Gold rated fully modular unit built by Seasonic (based on their own G series) and has 540w on the 12v rail.

Antec Truepower Classic 550w £59.99 Another Gold rated Seasonic built unit with 540w on the 12v rail. Not modular though. A further £9 gets you the 650w version with 648w on the 12v rail.

+1 for that unit.

I am also thinking about purchasing one of these psu's but I noticed on that link it shows the GS 650w as having an eco mode. I was under the impression it didn't have this facility. Just my two penneth ;)

The GS 650w is on this week only for £69.95 at the moment and is actually cheaper than the 550w version. Snap it up while on offer as that's a very good price. Review here at Jonnyguru.
