Hi all I need a new psu for my bitfenix prodigy.

I tried my old PC Power & Cooling silencer 750W and lets just say it didnt go well :o

So after having a quick look on the net I got these options. So far Im leaning towards the Strider series as they seem to get good reviews plus its only 140mm in length. The bitfenix fury on the otherhand is 160mm and not that many reviews still. Corsair CS series is good at 140mm but got mixed reviews also got some comments about failing pretty quick

Superflower golden green is not modular and the leadex is too big (200m). Corsair RM is too big as well (180mm).

Any other suggestions are also welcome.

It will power a fairly mid range system. However this will change whenever my main system gets updated. Also im planning to keep this psu as long as possible.
i3 2100 will change to an OCd 2500k
8gb ram
6970 will change to a 670

Thanks in advance

450W will power that with ease.

I have Gold Strider 750W, but I miss the power switch on back, otherwise good PSU.

if you plan on keeping PSU for long, maybe get EVGA G2 750W. but check the dimensions first as I think it's a bit longer.

also maybe Corsair RM550 (only going 550 for the longer 0 fan mode)

EVGA G2 are too long unfortunately and same with the Corsair RM Series.

Seems the Silverstone Strider GS series are the only 150mm fully modular psu that I could fine. Are they really that good as to what the reviews say ?

EDIT 2: Anyone used a SuperFLower Golden Green with a Prodigy? Its only 145mm so the non modular cable might fit somewhere to hide.

EDIT: Just found this. SFX with ATX bracket. Bit expensive but excellent space management

any of these would be a good choice:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone Strider Gold Series - 550 Watt (SST-ST55F-G) £89.99
1 x Silverstone SST-ST65F-G Strider Gold Series - 650 Watt £89.99
1 x Silverstone Strider Plus 500W Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (SST-ST50F-P) £59.99
Total : £249.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

the st55f-g is the same price as the 65f-g so not a consideration really. tbh the 500w bronze would be more than sufficient if you're on a budget
i've personally got the st65f-g in my prodigy, along with the short cable set:

1 x Silverstone SST-PP05-E Short Cable Set For SilverStone PSU Strider Series 100% Modular £16.99
Total : £22.97 (includes shipping : £4.98).

Cheers tamzzy. See for your Prodigy with the Strider 650W were the modular cables squished when the psu is pushed inside ?

So far Im torn between the Striders and the 145mm non modular SF Golden greens

Just an update in case anyone is looking for a Prodigy PSU

I decided to gamble on the SF GoldenGreen 650W. It fits my prodigy but cabling is tight on the PCIE Power cables. I had to ditch the optical drive so I can plug the cables to a HIS 6970 IceQ as the connectors are on the top.

Cables that were used:
24pin
8pin Atx
Both 6+2 PCI e
2 Sata power

The rest were tucked in the both sides of the PSU
