Picking up motherboard by heatsink

Just curious, does anyone else here ever pick up their motherboard by the (attached) CPU heatsink?

I've just removed my motherboard from my Antec P182 case and the only way to maneuver it out (with a Scythe Ninja attached) is to hold the heatsink and then grab the edge of the motherboard once it's clear of the case.

I do that as well............But only when I plan toremove it clean it off replace fresh tim and refit.
I would never do it if I was going to put it stright back in without swopping tim :(

why? touching the heatsink isnt gnna stop it working and need a resit?

I tend to use the motherboard or cpu heatsink majority of the time when installing or removing the motherboard.

I also tend to use the headsink as a handle.. heh.. usually get my fingers against the side of the Mobo too for some support. Haven't had any woe yet!

do it all the time, unlikely the weight of the pcb will overcome the pressure of the springs/clips/screws that secure the heatsink down so I wouldnt worry about renewing thermal paste..

I did it just this morning. As I did so I was thinking to myself that I probably shouldn't be doing it, and wondering if anyone else did. You just saved me the effort of asking. :D

Dunno, some mobos are darned heavy and the clips/screws are only plastic. Just seems like an unnecessary risk to me. Why not just pick it up by the sides?

i do this also, just very caucious when doing it, once out the case, i pick it up from the sides :)

I tend to grab the motherboard heatsinks rather than the CPU heatsink. This worked especially well with the M2N32 as it had a meaty heatsink near the middle.

I do both - a hand around the cooler and one on the side to get it out at an angle.

The P182 can be frustrating to work in sometimes, especially if you've done some ace cable routing.
