Pico 5 OLED

Ooooh interesting, hadn't heard anything about this one.

Funnily enough I cancelled my BSB2e order yesterday. I had a wobble about getting the Dream Air instead, but came to my senses as that currently looks like it's been assembled by retarded horses (that facial interface!?). £2k and it looks like a cracker toy. I just can't do it. And who knows when you'd get one anyway. Months and months probably if you order now. Unless you're a VR youtuber of course, most of which are just rubbish people.

And have you seen what Pimax have done with the Pimax Prime fee? Looks like they've now sacked it for ALL headsets! I actually thought it was good as you only paid roughly half upfront and paid the rest within 14 days if you wanted to keep it. Now they have ALL your money upfront, sat in their account earning interest whilst you wait months, and months, with no communication and no idea when you'll get it. Not good.

I think I'm going to have to be sensible and just wait a fair while before I get my 'perfect' OLED headset....

im loving my bsb2 (well, I'd love it even more if my replacement doesnt have a dead pixel lol)

the problem with pico is their QC is amongst the worst of ALL the headset manufacturers........I'd pretty much put money on them taking B/C grade panels from production. I'll remain optimistic though.

I had a 4 for a few days. Thought the hardware was fine. Unfortunately the software was a disaster at the time.

The hard rumours were floated around a few months ago, interesting to see what specs and price point they come up with.

The Pico 3 i have is a solid piece of kit, no hesitations about going with them from a hardware build point of view. Considering the death knell has been sounded, there's sure too many options if you're looking to buy this year. Nothing is going to come cheap mind you, still it's good to see it still coming.

If I was a betting man, I'd say 4K OLED with an external puck. Less than 200g weight.
Pico had an online poll just before Christmas asking if people wanted displayport included. Might be an interesting headset this one.

I would be very tempted to get an OLED vr set that hopefully isn’t as bulky etc as the Q3, and can be purchased in this country ideally for support etc.

I don't know much about Pico to be honest, but it seems they have a vested interest in European markets so we might actually be able to buy one. Imagine that, being able to actually buy and receive a VR headset when you pay for it.

I saw another ad today for Big Screen Beyond 2 that said it was OLED. Guess there’s something horrendously wrong with it as seems to be with every headset.

Yes the BSB2 is MicroOLED.
The issues with the BSB2 are that it can't run at 90hz full res (72hz for full rez), the lenses have some glare, and it's so small the SteamVR lighthouse tracking can get easily obscured.

Also currently it has to be personalized to your face, using an iphone scan, until the halo strap and facial interface launches. (Not sure if that's available yet, but it's an additional cost).

And of course it's wired.
