Upcoming headsets from pico

**Rumours**

Looks like Micro OLED*, XR2Gen2 and 2nd gen pancake lenses across the board

Pico 5 - 2560x2560, wireless £499
Pico 5 Pro - ^ + eyetracking £599
Pico 5 Pro Max - 4K 3840x3840 + eyetracking + displayport £1,099

* Res seems to indicate OLED, but no confirmation
Hope to god they've moved away from their current LCD supplier

Let’s hope they’ve sorted out their software. I went through two Pico 4s. The headset itself was actually really good and I had no issue with their hardware.
However, just never managed to get it consistently working with PCVR.

I have to assume that q3 will still be the more popular device, and games will be optimized to it. Which in theory means driving those extra pixels are going to be a challenge for the same chip in both? Especially when it also potentially has to drive eye tracking too? Not to mention more pixels in the colour cameras.

Not including the Pro Max, since those look like they're going purely for the pcvr crowd.

Problem is, meta has the Market, so all mods games are for meta mostly

The pico 5 does sound nice
But I'm likely to switch back to meta , as there quality control is better and they just "work" and all my friends has one, so a lot easier to get a game together and talk via the inbuilt chat system makes it less hard work

About these Pico 5 rumours, the specs look great, high res + eye tracking + dp. It's not made me think twice about buying a quest 3, i cba waiting until well into next year for my next vr headset, i'm not too concerned about eye tracking as ime of it with a varjo aero it's not a magic bullet, i'm 1 of those users who never found much difference between dp and usb wired connection (i'll be playing wireless most of the time anyway), and the pico max is out of my price range unfortunately.

The iPhone style naming did make me wonder, and those specs do seem too good to be true.
Let's see what the rest of the year brings. I'm more excited about deckard than anything.

I should say that I don't know if they are true or not. But, Just looking at the resolution, how is Pico 5 going to achieve the performance needed for such a big jump in resolution over the Quest 3?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the Deckard if I were you. All we have is rumours and some wireless specs. Think about the Valve Index, even though Valve are pretty tight lipped, we still had leaks of demos of the prototype and the knuckle controllers a year before the Index launched. If the Deckard was due for release anytime in the next 6 months to a year, I think we would have more solid info by now.

But maybe they might surprise me!! :)
