Hi,
I recorded a program on my sky+ box and burned it to a dvd. The picture is really good, but there is no sound. Can anyone pls help? The dvd recorder is a Sony DR-GX120 Recorder

Here is how I have it set up.

I have put a scart cable from the vcr scart on the sky + to Line 1,tv scart on the dvd recorder.

Any suggestions pls?

have you tried the dvd which you have made in your PC to check for audio playback?
It's possible your TV/dvd player do not support the format which the audio is in. Have you done this before?

I have a strange recolection that I had a similar problem with my Pace Sky+ box, that if I had the Dolby digtal mode enabled in the Sky+ box (for Sky Movies DD5.1), then if I tried to record a DD movie to my DVD recorder the sound would be missing. Setting the output from Dolby to PCM solved it. (Of course I switch back to Dolby Digital mode once I am finished with the recording) The sky+ box records DD channels with the dolby encoding regardless of the setting, its purely a playback option.

I think the Scart 1 on the Sky+ Box will always downmix the soundtrack into stereo regardless of the settings in the box. I always record with Scart1 anyway, as the 'VCR' scart output on a Pace V2 sky+ box is only composite video. TV scart output is RGB, and most dvd recorders can handle an RGB input and it gives a much much better image quality.

I just daisychain, so Sky+ (RGB mode) to DVD Recorder to TV. When the DVD Recorder is switched to standby the Sky+ signal is sent to the TV. Works for me... it's not like I can watch DVD, and sky at the same time anyway. The only 'potential' downside is if you record an analog/freeview channel on the DVD Recorder, you cant watch a sky channel at the same time.... But you can still record 2 sky channels and watch a dvd at the same time etc.
