Pictures Getting Bigger?

I dunno the best place to post this, so forgive me if this isn't the best place to put this.

I've noticed that a lot of pictures I've uploaded and posted onto threads in the past have randomly increased in size. When I first posted it the picture was 800 by 600. Now its several times larger and wont even fit onto the screen.

What the heck is causing it? It only seems to happen to pics that were uploaded a while ago. More recent ones are still the proper size. I upload through imageshack.
 
They just look like they're at their full size rather than resized by the host site like Flickr does etc.

I've never really used imageshack to post pics on forums. Does it let you choose a size for links to post on forums etc? Or does it just give you one link?
 
It lets you choose the size when your first uploading it. Then it gives you a direct link to the image. Back when I first uploaded and posted the pics, they were normal sized. But somewhere along the lines, they've gotten larger.

And its consistently only pictures that have been uploaded for a while. Its like I have to go back and erase every picture I ever posted on this site, because 99% of the old ones are now thread destroyingly larger.
 
My suspicion is that Image Shack the host you used has changed its algorithm an this is causing your images to show in full res or blowup.
 
I guess something about the links work on Imageshack might break/change after a while?

I would either host pics elsewhere or just upload them at the maximum resolution you want. If you resize all your pics to have the longest side at 1024xwhatever then they'll never magically get bigger :)
