Hi all

I have an ATI x1900XT card and the latest cat drivers installed working on a CRT monitor. The problem that I am getting is that sometimes when I boot up my PC the screen looks unappealing to the eye. I can see everything alright but there is like a horrible haze that hurts my eyes a little.

This only happens every now and again? Sometimes when I boot up its fine?

I have the refresh rate set to 85Hz and the Resolution set to 1024 by 768.

Anyone any ideas what may be happening?

Sometimes when I change the resolution and refresh rate to other settings and then change it back again this fixes the problem.

Cheers

Have you tried changing the moire pattern on the monitor. If its not that, its your hardware. If your hoping its not your hardware. Try it on another machine, or reinstall windows. Or uninstall your mobo drivers and reinstall older versions. Likewise with your graphics card.

I have an issue with san andreas and my latest mobo drivers. Installing ones from 2004 seem to fix it... Every update since then makes my machine reset!!!

If the above doesnt work, its more than likely your graphics card is overheating. Check the airflow, check the cooler, check for dust. Oh, and check you dont have any speakers near the monitor...

Oh, and check its not the monitor as well.

Check each component to isolate whats causing it.

Tedious, but well worth your sanity.
