So can you get a plastic bar and balls for a tongue piercing? I have kept the long bar you originally get pierced with for a few months now but I'v bitten it quite a few times lately. As I don't want to chip any of teeth, I was wondering if you could get the bar and the ball in plastic or whatever sort of non metalic stuff (preferably something that's elstic, too).

how fresh is the piercing ? you say a few months yea ?
acrylic jewelry is NOT reccomended for fresh piercings. you should only really use surgical steel or titanium in fresh holes.

PTFE bars normaly come in the form of none threaded bars whuch you can cut to length your self, you just screw on the ball and it threads its self.

it is known to be okay for new piercings though its often used for temporary skin peircings ( not to be confused with a 'surface' piercing) like the nape or wrists where felexability is needed to put off migration for a while :)

how confident are you that it is healed? normaly it takes 6-12 months for a tounge piercing to heal

you can always try it, and if it causes irritation tyake it out straigth away !

I've not even been on bloody MSN all night.

Further to the above, I wouldn't even use 'surgical' steel for a fresh piercing.

PTFE is fine.
