Piggyback IDE drive to CD rom on Sata board?

I'm worried this is a completely daft question but here goes:-

I have a SATA board and want to access an IDE drive. Can I add it to the CD rom connection on the motherboard?

To me it seems an obvious yes, but I just can't decide

The CD ROM connector? You probably mean an IDE header, so I think you've just answered your own question.
