I've just searched for any threads on Pikes Peak and seem to have come up empty, what gives?!

This weekend is a busy weekend for motorsport, yet Pikes Peak is right up there on my "make time to watch it" list. Only trouble is I can't find anywhere online video streaming it. Anyone got any ideas?

If you've never heard of it, shame on you! Here are two videos explaining why you should go find out some more ;)

Unfortunately, like the 'Ring 24 hours, its only big in the country it is in. Getting any coverage of it at all over here is almost impossible. Its a shame really.

If only the coverage was that good :p I've got a German video feed of N24 up on my PC now with Radio Le Mans audio playing over the top  :D

It seems odd that it has such world appeal to drivers but very little coverage, even in the US. Here's hoping someone does a highlights show, but failing that I'll just watch the hundreds of YouTube clips its bound to spawn :p

The records are dropping in almost every class so far (well it is mostly tarmac now). There were concerns about wind but it hasn't hampered the "slower" cars. We may even see most of the unlimited class dipping under ten minutes.

I thought they were holding off tarmacing any more untill the 10 minute barrier was broken?

You're right - but compared to the records from the early 90s (which were only some seconds off ten minutes), there's a lot more tarmac. Looking at the map, two-thirds of the course is now paved, with the rest waiting for the sub-ten minute run.

Speaking of which, guess who just managed to get his slightly modified Suzuki SX4 to the summit in 9:51? With some sort of overheating problem as well; can't wait to see the on-board of that! Not least because the "stream" consisted of a camera at the start, the Ws and the summit ...

Unfortunately, the rest of the unlimited class didn't have it so good. Dallenbach's monster didn't start, Carapetyan went off the circuit and Rhys Millen's 4WD LMP lost brakes for the last few miles, but still set a 10:09. But good news! The Dacia Duster [with a tuned Nissan GTR engine] set a 10:17!
