Whilst i dont think im untrendy i feel a lot more can be done other than just picking stuff up from next so im asking you more stylish members of ocuk for some help to 'pimp me up' :D

First thing to mention is im 36 and prefer the smart / casual style and not really into trainers or the sporty look.

So, can anyone suggest any 'in' items of clothing or a particular shop / website / brand to go for?

First bit of advice. Avoid all these shops. Second - post a picture so we can make recommendations.

As the official best dressed member of OcUK I think I'll be able to make a few recommendations.
 
Many, if not all of the mens high street shops will offer you cheap, in fashion items, even if you do feel a bit out of place buying them. You could go to H&M, Topman (declining in standards) or any other local shop and just have a look round, these may be a bit young for you, but they're cheap.

If you're talking rather casual then plain coloured polo shirts with nice jeans, belt and casual brown shoes is a simple look that can't go far wrong. How about Burtons, who do a good range of casual-shirts, with rolled up sleeves and a ruffled/non-ironed effect and wear it open with a vest/tshirt underneath. Smart casual these days for us young'uns can be stereotyped towards a low v-neck All Saints jumper, with white shirt underneath, decent trousers/jeans and shoes that match your belt to finish.

It's all up to what you feel comfortable in, just have a look at what people are wearing when you go out shopping, go shopping with a woman as well, they always know the score.

I find that top man is turning into H&M. I'm not sure if it's just how the fashion is going, but yellow skinny jeans and a bright red huddy? :o

I prefer the 1990s styles to 2000s styles. But that's just me. Considering your age, next isn't too bad for you.

Step #1: If you gonna work the art... You gotta look the part! Drape up from the floor up and kill those tired-ass old kicks. Sport some gators for the true capers. As for your bottoms: Room is the key, cuz real pimps let it hang free. Make sure your shirts are pressed up and keep poppin those collars. Oh yeah... capes are the **** but don’t get it twisted... furs are the way to keep those Ho’s interested.

Step #2: Hook up’s are the No Swearing!. Like your pimp stick... It’s a crucial hook up cuz chin checking and knuckling back are tools of trade. So tilt your brim when you dealin in skin, cuz dome pieces let 'em know you paid. Then bling-bling-a-bling-a-bling cause no Ho can resist a platinum and diamond beveled ring.

Step #3: Peep game: Don't forget to take a shower! Cuz smelling so fresh and so clean ain't just a song homie... It's knowledge! Crack open a bottle of Jean Paul Gaultier or some other fine pimp fragrance.

Topman, since the stupid faux-80s faze last summer with coloured denim and thin-bright hoodys has been spiralling quicker and quicker downhill to a gay-emo skinny boys wet dream. H&M seems to be moving to cheaper production, with cheaper more basic products, and then a couple of decent lines. Burton's still the same, and Debenham's sticks to conservatism. Next is not worth going into now, imo.

The 00s has definitely moved towards a very close fit for men being fashionable compared to excessive bagginess in the 90s, I'm glad we've moved past that as well, just in my opinion though. Skinny jeans aren't good though.

ASOS for having a look, delving through without having to go anywhere. Then upon finding certain items that are good, whether smart, casual or gay, then finding which shops do which type of clothes and go shopping.

I've ordered from ASOS before with no luck on sizes or fitting, so I'm sticking to buying clothes in the real world.
 
I suppose if you like the smart casual type look, then just go for quality and good fit etc with plain-ish clothes, with a nice pair of shoes to finish it off.
 
I like ASOS myself.

But just look around in Debenhams, any store u see and find something you like, dont worry about it being 'in'. Even if you see something on someone else that you like, find something similar.

agree, one-shot-deals from those shops are doable, but wash them and you'll have a cotton mess on your hands!
