I'm about to start my wall mount re-build which will make me custom re-cable quite a lot of things, among which are fans/sata power/molex et cetera. May need to make completely custom cables, which i may want to keep smaller than.

I find mostly only molex/atx20-24 depinning tools, what about smaller connectors like PWM connectors ? Not sure what other tools regarding basic electrics i may need ?

Also, what tools (besides dremel :D ) are essential making scratch builds ?
I'm not talking basic tools, i mean PC modding specific ones...

Soldering iron, dremel, multimeter is sorted, spare parts/cables/connectors mostly aplenty (i may need to get lots of m3 and 6-32 screws and lots of long stand-offs though, somehow never accumulated too much... anyone have a spare liter or two ? :D I'm being half serious.)...

I've been messing with computers since time immemorial, but i never attempted outright building one from scratch...

Have plenty of heatshrink and a heatgun(variable temp). For my planned build i may actually braid cables themselves (should look awesome) or lace them oldschool - with a string, should look positively retro'ey :D

For fan connectors a small knife point or a very small flat screwdriver will be easily enough to get the little latch pressed down.

For Molex connectors the same will do.

For SATA power it depends on the type. IDC just need to remove the top cover and yank the cables out. On a terminal bases SATA power connector you may be able to use a small screwdriver to get access to the terminal latches.
