Unfortunately I can't give you any more specific help as I have no idea how Pine runs/works/etc.

You set up a MTA (mail transfer agent) e.g. fetchmail will work for fetching pop3 And this then delivers to your local unix mail box which PINE reads. I have some vague recollection of PINE being able to natively support certain types of mail fetching but that's just wrong. I suggest you try and use Mutt rather than Pine unless you can't. (uni makes you use Pine or something)
