Pine

I don't use Pine [never heard of it] but you may be able to set up a cronjob that will do it for you [or run a script that does it].

Unfortunately I can't give you any more specific help as I have no idea how Pine runs/works/etc.

Is it possible to set pine to download (and delete) emails from a POP box at a set time interval?

This is not how you are supposed to do it.

You set up a MTA (mail transfer agent) e.g. fetchmail will work for fetching pop3

And this then delivers to your local unix mail box which PINE reads.

I have some vague recollection of PINE being able to natively support certain types of mail fetching but that's just wrong.

I suggest you try and use Mutt rather than Pine unless you can't. (uni makes you use Pine or something)
