ping 1728 ... WHAT!?

ok so i was playing lfd2 on my computer and my connection is fine i always check im getting 68 ping since my brother has his xbox 360 on too

after 20 minutes doing campaign online, it becomes so slow im like what the hell?

anyhow i check the connection PING 1728 EXCUSE ME!?

anyhow did a connection test getting 1mb down and 100kb up

keeping all this in mind i have a 10mb virgin media cable line and my speeds are usually around 9800kb down and 568kb up.

after about 30 minutes it sorted itself out.

talked about a major gap in service?

(p.s - i checked it was nothing on my end)
 
Could've just been engineers working on the line, tends to get done late at night so as not to disrupt as many customers are possible.

Or, could it have been something on your network updating in the background without you knowing ?
 
Just be glad you're not on NTL, connection tends to drop out to craptastic every few hours. Then you get patches of a week or so every few months where you can go a day at a time with no connection at all. Mucho fun.

Maybe Virgin media just hate you and are being mean to you because my NTL/VM connection is just fine.
 
Happens occasionally to me, can be quite annoying but in these parts of the world there's not much can be done about it. At least you have the option of moving to another provider.
 
not just me then im in kent and last night i had silly high pings and im on 20 mb when i did a speed test i was getting 4 / 7 mb and was telling me i had a ping of 0 :/

Just for the record, it was their side experiencing problems not mine. Thankfully, I enjoy decent latency.
