Ping Attacks

If you are facing a DOS attack from ICMP ping requests then they are pretty hard to stop without a performance hit on the server, you could try blocking the attacking IP's within the firewall on the server? otherwise if the attack is prolonged and big enough, software solutions may need to be considered which will spoof packet dropping on hosts that attack the network or just ignore them completely.
