ping being weird

hello , i am currently using the highest bt fttc package which gets me 72 down and 21 up.

on speedtest i usually get 2-3 ms ping but recently this has changed up to 8-10ms.

does anyone know why and maybe a potential fix? im not usually the one to care but im not sure why this is happening.

Is that with the same server on speedtest? Cabled directly to the router? How stable is your line usually? One possible reason is maybe DLM has changed your line settings from fast to interleave, which while does have less errors also increases ping times. However I wouldn't worry too much since your ping times are already very low.

yes , same server. ping times have changed on every server though including pings to google and cloud flare dns. using a cat 7 ethernet cable from the computer to the router. does this mean i can’t do anything about it?

You can try call the ISP but depending on the person on the other end they may not fully understand the issue and how to change the profile.

Are you actually experiencing any issues as there really isn't anything wrong with 8-10ms pings on the interwebs.
