Sometimes i go to play bf2 and i get amazing loads of lag because people in the house are downloading on their pc's (4 on my network)... So is their some sort of tool i can use to quickly check to see if i my pings good enough?. Thanx

i would also find this very useful as no one really uses the internet in my house, however when i play generals zero hour online with my friend it lags so much :(

best way is actually playing in my mind.

if you ping at a given moment the ping may be fine but horrible a few seconds later all to do with how many open connections etc.

if its torrents you can limit the upload and download speeds as well as max open connections on the client.

the alternatives would be to use a linux based machince to act as a traffic shaper type box giving priority to game packets. there are routers available that do the same thing but i have no experience of either

their HAS to be a simple and easy way to tell if anyone in the household is downloading or not! and if i have enough bandwidth to game with!!?

You could always just run a speed test?

There's quite a few plugins for Samurize that will run pings and traceroutes and display the results periodically.
